One Fact Behind Many Facts and All Belong to One
Fatimah AL-Sharif
He is the One who has sent His Messenger with Guidance and the religion of truth, so that He makes it prevail over all religions. And enough is Allah for being a witness (to His promise). (28) Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, and those who are with him are hard on the disbelievers, compassionate among themselves; you will see them bowing down in Ruku‘, prostrating themselves in Sajdah, seeking grace from Allah, and (His) good pleasure; their distinguishing feature is on their faces from the effect of Sajdah (prostration). This is their description in Torah; 13 and their description in Injil is: like a sown crop that brings forth its shoot, then makes it strong, then it grows thick and stands straight on its stem, looking good to the farmers, 14 so that He may enrage the disbelievers through them. Allah has promised forgiveness and a huge reward to those of them who believe and do good deeds. (42:29)
Who is He? Who is Allah?
It is Allah, your Lord! There is no god but Him, the Creator of all things. Then worship Him, and He has the power to dispose of all affairs. (6:102)
We did not send before you any messenger but We revealed to him that there is no god but I, so worship Me (21: 25)
He is our lord. He is described in the old Testament of the bible:
-Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord.(Deuteronomy 6:4)
-How great you are, O Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have
heard with our own ears. (2 Samuel 7:22)
-I am the first, the ;ast, the only God; there is no other god but me. (Isaiah 44: 6)
The one true God in the new Testament of the bible:
-And eternal life means to know you, the only true God, and to know Jesus Christ, whom you sent.
(John 17:3)
-Jesus answered, “My teaching is not my own. It comes from the one who sent me.”(John 7:16)
-And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God;
and there is none other but He. (Mark 12: 32)
Allah declares that there is One true religion with one original message that has been conveyed
repeatedly to humankind by His messengers peace be upon them.
The Creation of Adam & Eve
Message (1)
Allah is Our Creator, The One True God, The Compassionate, The Most Beneficent, The Most Gracious,
The Most Merciful, The Judge, The All-Knowing, The All Seeing, The All-Forgiving,The Most Kind, The
Truth; The Glorious Quran states: “And to Allah belong the beautiful names, so invoke (call on) Him by
them.”; (7:180).
Allah created Adam from an extract of clay, then He proportioned by giving him hearing, vision,
and heart, and He breathed into him from His soul. After that, Allah asked his angels
to prostrate before Adam. Satan refused to do so.
Then Allah out of Adam created his wife, Eve to find comfort in her.
Satan whispered to them to make apparent which was concealed from them of their private parts.
Adam, Eve, and Satan have been let going down to earth.
Message (2)
Since the creation of Adam and Eve, one true religion with one original message has been conveyed
repeatedly to humankind. That message is to submit themselves to one God, their Creator.
Submission is the Arabic word “Islam”.
To remind people of that message, Allah sent many prophets and messengers.
Message (3)
We all believe that The prophets of Allah include: Adam, Idris (Enoch), Nuh (Noah),
Hud (Heber), Saleh (Methusaleh), Lut (Lot), Ibrahim (Abraham), Ismail (Ishmael), Ishaq (Isaac),
Yaqub (Jacob), Yusuf (Joseph), Shu'aib (Jethro), Ayyub (Job), Dhulkifl (Ezekiel), Musa (Moses),
Harun (Aaron), Dawud (David), Sulayman (Solomon), Ilyas (Elias), Alyasa (Elisha), Yunus (Jonah),
Zakariya (Zachariah), Yahya (John the Baptist), Isa (Jesus) and Muhammad (Peace be upon them all).
That means our God is one and all these prophets were Muslims and they are all his messengers to
mankind.
Message (4)
We believe that there is a similarity between Adam and Jesus both are created by the power of
God's word and His power. There is a group of messengers called the strong-willed prophets.
They are Nuh (Noah), Ibrahim (Abraham), Musa (Moses), Isa (Jesus) and Muhammad
(Peace be upon them all).
Divine Revelation
The one true God has sent messengers with many Revealed Books to convey one message.
Message (5)
Divine Revelation is a guidance and mercy to mankind. Allah sent Divine Revelation to His Messengers.
The Quran says:
``We Muslims believe in Allah, and the Revelation given to us, and to Abraham, Ishmael, Jacob and
the tribes, and that given to Moses and Jesus and that given to all the Prophets from their Lord.
We make no difference between one and another of them and we submit to Allah (Quran 2:136).
Message (6)
Divine Revelation includes the Revealed Books. There are five key books of revelation in Islam.
These are: the Scrolls (the Suhuf) was given to Abraham, the Psalms (the Zabure) was given to David,
Torah (the Old Testament) (Tawrah) was revealed to Moses, the Gospel (the New Testament)
(the Enjeel) was revealed to Jesus, and the Quran (the Final Testament) was revealed to Muhammad
(peace be upon them all).
Message (7)
The term Bible does not appear anywhere in the Quran.
The term Old Testament and New Testament does not appear anywhere in the Quran.
Some of these divine texts are each interpreted and expanded upon by an oral tradition –
the Talmud for Torah and the Hadith for the Quran respectively. Both traditions contain legal and ethical
material, and the legal material in each distinguishes between religious laws and social laws but
both convey one message. That message is to worship One God, Allah.
The authority of `Umar (ra) who said:
While we were one day sitting with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) there appeared before us a man dressed
in extremely white clothes and with very black hair. No traces of journeying were visible on him,
and none of us knew him. He sat down close by the Prophet (ﷺ) rested his knees against the knees
of the Prophet (ﷺ) and placed his palms over his thighs, and said: "O Muhammad! Inform me about
Islam." The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) replied: "Islam is that you should testify that there is no deity
worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is His Messenger (ﷺ), that you should perform
salah (ritual prayer), pay the zakah, fast during Ramadan, and perform Hajj (pilgrimage) to the House
(the Ka`bah at Makkah), if you can find a way to it (or find the means for making the journey to it)."
He said: "You have spoken the truth." We were astonished at his thus questioning him (ﷺ) and then
telling him that he was right, but he went on to say, "Inform me about Iman (faith)." He (the Prophet)
answered, "It is that you believe in Allah and His angels and His Books and His Messengers and
in the Last Day, and in fate (qadar), both in its good and in its evil aspects." He said, "You have spoken
the truth." Then he (the man) said, "Inform me about Ihsan." He (the Prophet) answered, "It is that you
should serve Allah as though you could see Him, for though you cannot see Him yet He sees you."
He said, "Inform me about the Hour." He (the Prophet) said, "About that the one questioned knows no
more than the questioner." So he said, "Well, inform me about its signs." He said, "
They are that the slave-girl will give birth to her mistress and that you will see the barefooted ones,
the naked, the destitute, the herdsmen of the sheep (competing with each other) in raising lofty buildings."
Thereupon the man went off. I waited a while, and then he (the Prophet) said, "O `Umar, do you know
who that questioner was?" I replied, "Allah and His Messenger know better." He said, "That was Jibril.
He came to teach you your religion." [Muslim]
Muslims must Manifest their Islam, Faith, and Perfection or Excellence as these terms explained in
The authority of `Umar
What is the core pillars of Islam?
* Belief that the One True God is the only being worthy of worship. Muslims believe that all prophets
invited their peoples to the worship of the one and only God, who is called 'Allah' in Arabic. Allah
literally means "the God" Unlike the word "god" in English, Allah can not be made plural (gods) or
given gender (goddess). It is a unique Arabic word that is used by all Arabic-speaking people when
referring to God, whether they are Muslim, Christian or Jew.
* Belief in angels, who were created to carry out God's commandments on earth and in the heavens.
* Belief in the divinely revealed books, including the Torah, the Gospel, the Psalms and the Quran.
* Belief in all God's prophets and messengers, 25 of whom are mentioned in the Quran. * Belief in
the Day of Resurrection, on which people will stand accountable before God for their faith and deeds.
* Belief in God's Will and Predestination which alludes to God's wisdom in choosing aspects of our
lives over which we have no control.
How do Muslims Manifest their Faith?
There are five main deeds in Islam, called "pillars" of the Islam, which every Muslim should perform.
They are:
I . The Declaration of Faith: A Muslim declares his faith by saying, "I bear witness that there is none
worthy of worship except the One True God, and that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is His messenger."
2. Five Daily Prayers: Prayers are prescribed five times and as a duty toward the Creator. If done
conscientiously, it strengthens faith, purifies the heart and controls temptation and wrong doing.
3. Zakat: A Muslim pays zakat (compulsory charity) to the poor and others in need. It amounts
to 2.5% of one’s excess wealth that has accumulated for a year. Zakat helps to establish economic
balance and social justice in the society, and promotes goodwill between the rich and the poor.
4. Fasting In Ramadan: A Muslim fasts from dawn to sunset during the month of Ramadan,
abstaining from food, drinks, smoking and sexual relations. Through this month-long exercise,
the Muslim has the opportunity to develop mindfulness of God, patience and self-restraint
5. Hajj: A Muslim performs the pilgrimage to, Mecca known as Hajj, once in his lifetime
on the condition that he is physically and financially able.
Message (8)
Scrolls (Sahifah) book is believed to be the first holy book within Islam. It was given to Ibrahim
and Musa. Some parts of the Sahifah are believed to be lost. However, some sections have been
preserved and are mentioned in the Qur’an.
Has he not been told what was written in the Scriptures of Moses [Musa] and of Abraham
[Ibrahim] … that no soul shall bear the burden of another; that man will only have what he
has worked towards … that the final goal is your Lord … that it is He who gives death and life
(Qur’an, 53: 36-44).
Message (9 )
Psalms (Zabur) book was given to the Prophet Dawud. It is also known as the Psalms of David.
It is important within the Christian Bible and the Jewish Tanakh, as it contains prayers, poems and
songs intended to inspire people. We have sent revelation to you [Muhammad] as We did to Noah and
the prophets after him […] to David We gave the book [of Psalms] […] They were messengers bearing
good news and warning, so that mankind would have no excuse before God, after receiving the
messengers. (4: 165)
Message (10)
For the Jews and Christains, the Bible includes the Old Testament, which contains the sacred books of
the Jews, and the New Testament, which begins with the birth of Jesus. For Muslims,
the Bible is called “Isra’illiyat literature which can only be regarded as supporting mainstream Islamic
traditions. It should not be relied on unless it is confirmed by the Quran and Hadith.”
Message (11)
Torah (Tawrah) is a collection of divine teachings and information bestowed on Prophet Moses on
Mount Sinai. It contains the Ten Commandments which are key rules on how to live life.
Over time, it has been distorted and alterated. Among the Jews and Christians the Torah is believed
to be the first five books in the Bible: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy.
These books are biographies of Moses. Prophet Musa Ibn Imran known as Prophet Moses AS in the Bible,
considered a prophet and messenger in Islam, is the most frequently mentioned individual in
The Holy Quran, his name being mentioned 136 times. The word Torah is mentioned 18 times in the
Quran in 16 verses. It is also mentioned as Moses’s Book.
Message (12)
The Gospel (the New Testament),(the Enjeel), is one of God’s greatest books that was revealed to Jesus.
It acts as a guide to people, a light and a mercy. Unfortunately , with time it was subject to various kinds
of distortion and alteration. The term Enjeel, in the Quran, the equivalent of the Gospel
(in the singular form) should not be equated with the four Gospels.
The Quran speaks of the word of God, not the word of Mark, Luke, Matthew, and John.
That is not the word of God, that’s their own biographies. This book was given to the Prophet Isa,
who is believed to have predicted the coming of Muhammad.
Message (13)
The Ten Commandments found in Exodus & Deuteronomy call for the same Commandments
found in the Holy Quran:
The first three Commandments concentrate on Allah’s rights.
Exodus 20:2-17 & Deuteronomy The Quran (Chapter: Verse)
